Derry, New Hampshire: In recent controversy, the first transgender woman, Brian Ngyen, has won Miss Greater Derry. This has been impowering to all birthing and non-birthing peoples alike.

Let's face it. Our standards of beauty are changing. Being fit, white, hetero-normative, and pretty is out. Obesity is in. Black is in. LGBTQ is in. It has never been easier for anyone to identify as beautiful. It is empowering to all of us. You may ask why.

As we progress in society, our old societal norms die. "Beauty" was very exclusive for such a long time. Now, anyone can be beautiful. Because we all know it is what's on the outside that counts.

In other breaking news, a trans, queer, polygender, plus sized, and disabled ape has won Miss America.
